Oh yeah poly time

bocodamondo responds:

fucking old school but still awesome ^^

The two-tone hard lighting easily receives a 4 on this. The cyan gives good transition to the other 2 colors, and makes it more atmospheric.

The lighting is effective. The lighting from bottom on up imposes it's importance. The way that it's lighted is really cool as well. It's all blasted on the surface; there's no signs of light diffusion, making it seem almost supernatural. Out of all the lighting you've done, this simpler one stands out the most.

I honestly don't know why your score average is 3 stars...do people know how hard it is to paint reflections off transparent bottles? And don't get me started on if there's water XD

Good stuff here mate.

DragonKeeper345 responds:

Thank you so much. Yeah its probably people who have never tried to draw reflections.

Seems like 4/5 of the top picked ones were purely contemporary themed works, where they focus more on the idea than anything else (I have a bit of a problem with that, but I ain't hosting it I guess lol). At least your sandwich one could have easily been in the top five, ya know? Personally, I think the two grandmas should be the only one in there, that was great. Your pieces overall are awesome.

This reminds me totally of the photos Adobe they use for their advertisement (except this isn't a photo, beautiful work). I particularly like the abstract lines as if it's not quite flat, but not quite a hair follicle.

Wicked texture work!

Your use of lighting in this is so gnarly. Almost a perfect light/dark balance. Nice diagonal and camera angle. Nice adding in the small ships to get a sense of size for the bigger machines. The piece feels more like a sculpture than what I normally see for speedpaints. Great example of a person who can establish their values, hues, and volumes as minimally as possible.

DolTiSh responds:

Thank you for the feedback bro.

You got the classic vertical pose down perfect.

I swear I'm going to start doing the daily draw-ups one day...over time, I've seen a spark in you pushing ideas and concepts further. These are all so great.

Thanks so much, CrabbWalker. I have no shame in admitting that i've had plenty of days where I had no idea what to draw that day and it turned out bad. But the fun is in the struggle and being able to do a better job the next day.

An animating night owl...without the whole 360 head turn.
